Chulalongkorn University is Thailand’s oldest and one of the country’s most prestigious universities.  Chula’s body of work on “Social Innovation” has solidified its claim to fame as “No.1 in Asia and No.23rd in the World” (the highest-ranking that any Thai university has ever received) by the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking 2021. THE is an impactful world-class ranking of 1,115 universities worldwide, and THE Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Chulalongkorn University was also ranked first in Thailand for 22 subjects in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject 2021.

Program Duration

The one-year Master’s program follows the trimester system in which the academic year is divided into three sessions: the first session from August to November, the second session from December to March, and the third session from April to July. Each Trimester lasts approximately 15 weeks. Students are required to complete their coursework in the first two trimesters. Thesis proposal or Independent Study (IS) defense often takes place during the second Trimester of the program. Students then take 1-2 trimesters to work on their thesis or Individual Study (IS).

Highlights of the Program

The Master of Arts Program in Population Policy and Human Development is the first master’s Program in Thailand with the aim to provide top-notch knowledge in Demography applied to population policy and human development at the national and organizational levels.

  • The Program provides demographic training by using an interdisciplinary approach from various theoretical and practical perspectives. 
  • Students can apply their in-class knowledge to the policy sandboxes, and policy labs collaborated with Chulalongkorn University Platform for Ageing Research Innovation (Chula ARi) and other governmental units.
